Subnautica 2 Vehicles Guide

All 5 vehicles in Subnautica 2 Early Access. The Tadpole is the core submersible with interchangeable chassis modules — a completely new vehicle system replacing the Seamoth and Cyclops from the original game.

Subnautica 2 Vehicle System Overview

Unlike the original Subnautica where you had separate vehicles (Seamoth, Prawn Suit, Cyclops), Subnautica 2 uses a modular chassis system. The Tadpole is the base module that plugs into different chassis for different roles:

How to Get the Tadpole in Subnautica 2

The Tadpole is unlocked by scanning fragments found in the world. You'll need to:

  1. Find and scan multiple Tadpole fragments (located near old habitats and wrecks)
  2. Build a Moonpool at your base (requires Moonpool fragments)
  3. Construct a Vehicle Fabricator inside the Moonpool
  4. Craft the Tadpole using: 2× Titanium Ingot + 1× Power Cell

Vehicle Upgrades & Depth Modules

Vehicles can be upgraded with modules found by scanning fragments or crafted at the Modification Station. The most important upgrade is the Depth Module, which allows your Tadpole to dive deeper into dangerous biomes.
