Tadpole
SubmersibleCore module for vehicular mobility and manipulation suite. The primary submersible in Subnautica 2, replacing the Seamoth from the original game.
All 5 vehicles in Subnautica 2 Early Access. The Tadpole is the core submersible with interchangeable chassis modules — a completely new vehicle system replacing the Seamoth and Cyclops from the original game.
Unlike the original Subnautica where you had separate vehicles (Seamoth, Prawn Suit, Cyclops), Subnautica 2 uses a modular chassis system. The Tadpole is the base module that plugs into different chassis for different roles:
Core module for vehicular mobility and manipulation suite. The primary submersible in Subnautica 2, replacing the Seamoth from the original game.
Enhanced agility and speed chassis, dockable via Tadpole. Maximizes acceleration, top speed, and turn rate.
Dockable passenger and cargo chassis for the Tadpole. Designed for resource gathering and co-op transport.
Seafrog Tadpole Chassis. A versatile all-rounder chassis for the Tadpole system.
Large submarine designed for multiple crew. The endgame vehicle for deep exploration and extended missions.
The Tadpole is unlocked by scanning fragments found in the world. You'll need to:
Vehicles can be upgraded with modules found by scanning fragments or crafted at the Modification Station. The most important upgrade is the Depth Module, which allows your Tadpole to dive deeper into dangerous biomes.
No. The Seamoth does not return in Subnautica 2. It has been replaced by the Tadpole, a modular submersible with interchangeable chassis. Unknown Worlds confirmed no vehicles from previous games return.
The Cyclops does not return. The Trident is the new large submarine designed for multiple crew members, serving a similar role for deep exploration.
There are 5 vehicles in the Early Access build: Tadpole (core module), Scout Ray Chassis, Haul Chassis, Seafrog, and Trident.
Yes. Vehicles accept upgrade modules including Depth Modules (for deeper diving), engine efficiency modules, and more. These are crafted at the Modification Station or found in data boxes.
